Kevin Miller works in the spaces between the digital and the physical. He employs innovative approaches to painting using digital media and digital fabrication to create his objects. The convoluted processes and compromises of transforming from a digital to a physical being (or vice versa) are central to the work. His intent is to create something with a digital aesthetic but with an incongruously physical presence -as if they have swapped context unexpectedly. We are asked to understand them as creatures both of the digital world and of the abstract tradition and asked to reflect on how some of paintings central questions such as colour or human gesture are affected by digital technology. The forms and colours in the work are familiar both from the digital characters, icons and interfaces we use every day and from abstract painting and drawing.
