Rachel Lawell

Rachel Lawell is a visual artist specialising in fine art painting. Her work is highly influenced by film and the portrayal of the female form in cinema.  In her work she examines and challenges traditional images of women as passive objects and spectacle for the ‘male gaze’, and she also explores how cinematic techniques can be represented through a means of fine art, aiming to create a clear interstice between film and painting.
