Aimee Melaugh

Aimee Melaugh’s paintings present a burst of memory, depicting a moment in time and have the potential to be viewed as a door to re-examine past events, inviting the viewer to be transported into a different time and space. Her paintings utilise abstract and figurative elements to explore fragmented memories and emotions. The figures in her paintings are often blurred and merge into their surroundings.  Body parts along with other objects appear in certain sections and disappear in others, creating a narrative with no ending or beginning.  Her recent work has developed in order to investigate wider issues which have taken place in Ireland and worldwide.

Aimee Melaugh is an Irish artist based at Clarendon Street Studios, Derry, Northern Ireland. She graduated from the Ulster University, Belfast with a First Class Honours in Fine Art Painting (2018). Since graduating, Melaugh’s work has been exhibited at the Artisann Gallery Belfast, Platform Arts Belfast and The Glassworks Derry. Other recognitions include the Royal Ulster Academy Award and the purchase of her work for the Arts Council Northern Ireland’s permanent collection.
