About this work: 'A keen amateur gardener, with a love of the great outdoors and the countryside, my garden is my happy place. There I find much-needed solitude and a chance to escape the fast-paced modern world. I find wonder in the simple things in life like birdsong and the buzzing of bees among the flowers. This painting started in different layers of pattern and colour, some partly washed off before allowing to dry and adding new ones, hopefully creating a sense of depth. The palette is very much inspired by a rainy day in Spring in Ireland, and one I go back to again and again, often without realising: blue, green, and burnt sienna. Keeping to a minimal palette allows for a more considered mixing of colours and helps to harmonise the work.' Judith Logan
