Louise Lennon

Louise Lennon is an award-winning contemporary landscape artist. She works in oil, and she also draws on her textile background to create mixed media art using batik and oil techniques.  Her art is inspired by the local rural landscape and features impressionistic close and distant views of the countryside. Her composition focuses on the balance of light and dark, positive and negative spaces, exploring a concept from Japanese art called notan.  She is also influenced by how we perceive colour, colour theory, colour as both the subject and the medium; in particular by the work of the Impressionists, how they focused on light and shadow, moving away from hard lines, and enlivening their negative spaces...
