Artist's commentary about this work: 'Amongst the flowers words are hidden, extracts from a poem entitled Ghost of the Apple by Tina Park, who gave me permission to use her words as part of my new series of paintings. My intention is to explore the impact being in nature has on us emotionally and spiritually. How the natural world has the power to transport us to other realities. We feel connected to something beyond us perhaps to the stories that lie buried in the earth or simply our own narratives that we create for ourselves as we process loss, growth and change.' Sarah McWilliams

Sarah McWilliams is a multidisciplinary artist. After living and working in England for many years, she lately relocated in Northern Ireland, her ‘home’, and started exhibiting her work in the region. Her recent series of painted landscapes are informed from photos and collages created in response to a particular place and then digitally manipulated. The concept behind this process continues to reflect the power of art to transform the debris of modern life, whilst also reflecting the relationship between person and place.
