Artist's commentary about this work: 'Going home can feel like a wonder, overwhelmed by the sweet taste of nostalgia, forests and mythology- one forgets reality and history completely. Only now are we allowed to ponder, think and relive the past. Such luxury was not present not even so long ago - people were fighting for their being and survival.  Who, before us, called this place their home?'

Justė Bernotaitė is an award-winning emerging artist whose work explores how the past leaves its imprint on the landscape. She is particularly drawn to the landscapes of her homeland Lithuania - its forests, rivers, and ruins. Rather than viewing these as passive environments, she sees them as active carriers of complex histories, ancestral knowledge, ancient folklore, and personal memories.
