Ronan Bowes

Ronan Bowes creates abstract paintings and objects drawing inspiration from his own experiences and reflections on society. Here he gives an insight into his work: ‘My current work is an amalgamation of constructed, deconstructed and reconstructed studio material in a metaxy of painted 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional handmade forms. The life, death and rebirth of the studio materials are core thoughts during my process. This concept plays a metaphor to my experience growing up in a sectarian and ‘troubled’ Northern Ireland. Creating art for me, began and continues as a proxy symbolic resource where autobiographical elements, social discontentment, peoples’ disaffiliation from the system, class interests, bigotry divisions and political differences find expression.’
