Further information
Melaugh’s paintings draw upon ideas surrounding identity, supressed individuality and deceiving appearances. Dark tones and fragments of otherworldly images are used to explore ideas surrounding entrapment and isolation with influence taken from poetry and literature. Ghostly Orchid is inspired by the poem, Fever 103 by Sylvia Plath. The painting explores a longing to escape the structures of normal society.
